POSITION DESCRIPTION
Within this job, successful candidates will have to opportunity to support the Laboratory’s mission by serving as the subject matter expert for nuclear facility electrical engineering matters, including all aspects of electrical safety, power quality, power monitoring, and critical power reliability/redundancy issues. Often in this role, engineers will perform engineering studies including short circuit, device coordination, equipment sizing, exterior lighting, fault current, and arc flash for both medium and low voltage equipment. Electrical Engineers in this position will work alongside junior engineers (e.g., fire protection, structural, mechanical, and electrical) and other senior engineers in team settings to complete collaborative full-system design solutions through mentoring, calculations, and leadership.

Minimum Requirements
• Recognized broad and/or unique expert knowledge of new and existing non-reactor/nuclear facility electrical engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods, and application of computer-aided engineering tools to solve operations-based engineering problems.
• Expert knowledge of engineering work, planning, construction, and control methods.
• Expert knowledge of industry, regulatory, or national codes and standards including IBC, NEC, IEEE, and NFPA 70E.
• Expert knowledge of Engineering principles and procedures, design guides, appropriate standards, and administrative practices.
• Expert knowledge of project and process engineering practices.
• MathCAD, AutoCAD, SKM
• NEC (NFPA 70 and 70E) knowledge and application for Power Distribution Design; Engineering Judgement applied to field
change requests; Instrumentations and Controls Experience

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Engineer 3 - This position requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering + 6 yrs of related experience.
Engineer 4 - This position requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering + 12 yrs of related experience.

Position has the ability to be remote. Local candidates can work on-site if desired. A 40-hour work week is scheduled. Eligibility to obtain a DOE Clearance is required to perform assigned duties. Must be a US Citizen.
