UDR is seeking qualified candidates for a Fellow Engineer /Operational Technology and I&C Design Authority Engineer opportunity for our customer in Aiken, SC to support the Savannah River Site.

DUTIES
Initiate some technical programs, recognize needs of work group and its customers, take initiative to fill the known needs, develop timely, quality solutions to technical problems, lead task teams to research and develop solutions on key issues. Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems. Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning. Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise. Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise. Keep informed of technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world. Be aware of the capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them. Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management. Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, and quality assurance requirements. Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers, and oversight groups. Demonstrate creative ability through such mediums as patent disclosures, technical papers and articles, and/or utilizing technical skill in contributing to meeting Site missions and goals.

Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Area Security Access:
The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years are preferred.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS Electrical Engineering and 15 years relevant work experience or MS Electrical Engineering and 12 years relevant work experience.
• Master or PhD degree from accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering with focus in Power Systems Engineering.
• Possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years.
• Fifteen years of design experience (within the last 15 years) in the nuclear or chemical process industry.
• Experience in Low, Medium to High Voltage Industrial Power Systems with voltage of 480V through 13.8kV.
• Experience performing modeling and simulation for power systems and short circuit analysis using simulation software platforms (e.g., ETAP).
• Candidate will provide oversight, design, planning, and maintenance of medium and high voltage systems infrastructure such as distribution cables, control systems, protective relaying, transformers, switchgear, substations, alarms, and overall system coordination for Savannah River Site facilities and projects.
• Experience of designing High Voltage Power Circuit Board layouts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
• US Citizenship Required
