Deputy Program Manager

Our client is on the lookout for an accomplished and dynamic Deputy Program Manager to play a pivotal role in one of their groundbreaking fast reactor programs. This exciting opportunity involves working on the forefront of nuclear technology development, supporting a team of dedicated scientists and engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary liaison for the program schedule with partner companies.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of the program schedule, identifying and communicating potential challenges to engineering leads.
• Keep the Program Manager, Technical Lead, and Group Leads informed about schedule obstacles and recommend areas for improvement.
• Interface with Group and System Leads to ensure an up-to-date schedule, incorporating supplier schedules.
• Collect and report on schedule progress and metrics in various forums, including Team Monthly Reviews and Monthly Program Status Reports.
• Implement Earned Value Management System (EVMS) principles and program management best practices to support program execution.
• Manage month-end Earned Value reporting process, assessing SPI, CPI, EAC, BAC, and VAC for the program.
• Produce a comprehensive Monthly Program Status Report tracking overall program work performance in scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a resource-loaded master program schedule in Microsoft Project.
• Participate in program change control processes for changes affecting baseline budget, scope, or schedule.
• Facilitate swift procurement through credit card purchases for the program.
• Foster relationships with suppliers and assist in the training, development, and mentoring of team members.
• Maintain communication with internal support organizations, including Finance, ESH&Q, Legal, and Procurement.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a technical or program management role.
• Proven experience in developing and managing complex program schedules with multiple stakeholders.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills, including technical writing and presentation abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills to support a collaborative team philosophy and strategy.
• Ability to adapt rapidly to new software and processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• PMP or AACE certificate is preferred.
• Experience with Atlassian Confluence and JIRA is advantageous.
• Strong technical background, including engineering management, is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in MS Project and JIRA is desired.
• The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect, fostering teamwork.
