UDR is seeking qualified candidates for an Emergency Preparedness opportunity in Carlsbad, NM at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

Work Location: Remote (4 months to 1 year assignment)

Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation’s only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.

Duties:
• Developing programmatic documents for the All-Hazards Planning Basis, Emergency Categorization and Classification, Consequence Assessment, and Protective Action Program Elements under DOE Order 151.1D Comprehensive Emergency Management System and DOE G 151.1-1B Comprehensive Emergency Management System Guide.
• Screening and analyzing hazardous materials, including chemicals, biological agents & toxins, and radiological materials for emergency management programs.
• Developing Emergency Planning Hazards Assessment (EPHA) documents
• Utilizing modeling and simulation software (NARAC, HotSpot, others) to conduct hazard and consequence assessments.
• Developing facility Emergency Action Levels (EALs) from the results of completed hazards analysis (EPHA)
• Developing facility protective actions and offsite protective action recommendations (PAR using the results of the EPHA.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will review the documented safety requirements and technical safety requirements, and perform all hazards analysis, calculation to complete the revision the Emergency Planning Hazard Assessment or existing facilities, operations, and two new facilities. This will require full documentation of supporting calculations.
