POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provide Fire Protection Design Engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents. Typical deliverables, based on the area(s) of expertise, include Plan Drawings, Elevation Drawings, Piping Isometrics, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Riser Details, Hydraulic Calculations, Sway Brace Calculations, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, and Battery Loading Calculations. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers, or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, and Design Build Specifications. Design services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

​​​​​​EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an ABET accredited Fire Protection Engineering Program or BS Degree in an Engineering Discipline and at least one of the following: Registered PE in Fire Protection, Society of Fire Protection Engineers NICET Level III/IV Certification in one ore more of the following: Fire Alarm, Special Hazard Systems, Water-Based Suppression Systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
10 or more years related experience, 4 of which shall be in at least one of the following: Fire Alarm Detection and Signaling, Special Hazard Systems/Water-Based Suppression Systems Design.
Working knowledge of NFPA Code and Standards - NFPA 13 and 70.
Ability to perform field walk-downs.
Experience with 2D MicroStation CADD.
General knowledge of either electrical/control systems or mechanical systems.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.

LOCATION
Savannah River Site
Aiken, SC
Position will be primarily performed at SRS and various off-site locations as needed.

The Savannah River Site (SRS), a 310 square mile (198,046 acres) Department of Energy site, is located in the sand-hills region of South Carolina. It encompasses parts of Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale counties and is bordered on the west by the Savannah River and Georgia. SRS is close to several cities, including Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. It is also within a few hours of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Greenville and Charlotte.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Successful candidates will be able to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation. The work schedule will be a nominal 40-hour work week but can be part-time or with interruption between on-site requirements dependent on the support requirements necessary for the project. It is estimated that each standard year will consist of two-thousand and eighty hours. Ability to work a schedule that includes weekend days.
