Nuclear Electrical I&C Controls/PLC Design Engineers (HYBRID)

GSE Solutions Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States (Hybrid)
- Candidates must be local to Idaho Falls, Idaho.

US Federal DOE Facilities New Construction, Upgrades, Retrofits Design

(Between 1 to 5 Years Contract) Start Date: ~April/May, 2024.

Work will be performed remotely for up to two days per week with the remaining two days being required to have on in office presence at Idaho Falls, Idaho, therefore the ideal candidates must reside within 50 miles of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Laptop & Software Provided

(Non-Exempt – O/T =1 ½ ) 4-10’w work schedule

Requirements:

B.S. in Electrical Engineering
5+ years current nuclear design and design change package development experience
Shall be responsible to lead efforts in designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control systems and equipment used in nuclear facilities.
Shall design, develop, test, and implement the control systems in accordance with project requirements. Subcontractor shall be involved with repairs, upgrades, maintenance, etc. and required to develop and maintain human machine interfaces (HMI)s and associated programmable logic controllers (PLC)s. An understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and the ability to troubleshoot the systems is required.


Additional duties shall include, but not be limited to:
Perform engineering calculations, prepare specifications, perform analyses, perform testing, issue reports, and maintain related data.
Design and oversee development through installation of many types of complex systems and equipment.
Work individually, or with project leads, to effectively produce detailed instrumentation and control design drawings, including instrumentation physical layouts, instrumentation installation details, control system layout, instrument and cable design, control schematics.
Shall be responsible for the development of control system wiring, logic hardware design and configuration.
Interact with other disciplines, project support groups, Subcontractors, vendors, and clients as appropriate on an assigned project to achieve required outcomes.
Development of instrumentation and control design documents (piping and instrumentation diagrams , Instrument and Input/Output Lists, Control System Architecture, Network, Graphic Display drawings).
Responsible to seek consistent results and operation of a system within specified tolerances and provides recommendations to make it perform the tasks it was designed to do efficiently.
Provides imaginative, thorough engineering solutions to a wide range of complex, ambiguous, and/or difficult problems.
Understanding of electrical systems with a focus on control systems integration.
PLC & HMI programming, maintenance, and upgrades.
Responsible for configuration management for equipment documentation.
Be familiar with and understand National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E and applicable codes and standards such as Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 508A, NFPA 79, etc.
Personnel shall be experienced with the following
engineering software:
o Rockwell Automation: FactoryTalk View SE/ME, Studio 5000, RSLogix 5,
RSlogix 500
o GE: iFIX
o National Instruments: LabVIEW
Software and Licensing necessary to perform assigned tasks will be provided.
Selected individuals must have the ability to obtain a DOE L level clearance.
