Title:                   Welding Engineer
Position Type:    Direct Hire
Location:            Waterford, CT
Reports to:         Engineering Manager
Status:               Exempt

Job Summary:  
Report to the Engineering Manager, the Welding Engineer is responsible for all welding procedures and in charge of welding program at the nuclear plant. The position has a hybrid schedule with 3 days at site and 2 days at home with every other Friday off. Only candidates with an Engineering Degree and proven welding experience will be considered. Relocation assistance is available with a variety of excellent benefits as well as an annual bonus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives. 
•    Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. 
•    Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards. 
•    Provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed. May be required to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major project. 

Job Requirements:
•    Serve as a technical expert on engineering related legal and regulatory issues to outside entities. 
•    Acceptable relevant welding experience includes welding, weld planning, preparing weld data records, preparing weld repair dispositions, designing welds, analyzing welds, inspecting welds, qualifying welding procedures and personnel, performing metallographic analysis of welds, reviewing weld procedures, and preparing documentation necessary for R Stamp or American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) XI 
•    Repair and Practical experience developing and qualifying procedures for the following welding processes: SMAW, manual GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, and Brazing.  
•    Practical experience on joining, Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT), welding metallurgy, and mechanical properties for carbon steels, low alloy steels, austenitic and martensitic stainless steels, Copper (Cu) based alloys, and Nickel (Ni) based alloys. 

Physical Requirements:
•    Physical requirements include wearing PPE and Radiation recording instrumentation.
•    Walking, standing, climbing stairs, sitting at computer workstation.
•    Exposure to hot and cold inside and outside

Education / Experience:
•    Bachelor's degree in one of Required disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science from ABET Accredited engineering program.
•    OR possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved
•    OR possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
•    Completion of ASME IX training or at least 3 years of experience using the ASME IX code.
•    Minimum of 3 - 5 years engineering experience is required with relevant welding experience as defined in Section 7.0 of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B5.16 (Specification for the Qualification of Welding Engineers)
