- Core Engineering and Fuel Engineering Technology
- Utilize state-of-the-art software tools to optimize fuel management and core designs
- Maintain licensed methodologies for multiple nuclear plant types
- Advance methodologies and software technologies for innovative products that enhance the operations of the nuclear fleet
- Maintain Best-in-Class technical engineering leadership within Westinghouse and with our industry partners around the world
- Core Engineering and Fuel Engineering Technology
- Receive training and feedback from experienced mentor, and mentor other new developers
- Develop, modify, and maintain software applications on Linux and Windows platforms
- Perform software verification and validation
- Document the work that was performed, in accordance with required engineering procedures
- Lead or participate in code reviews and inspections of work performed by peers
- Communicate effectively with software development team including status reporting (e.g., quality, budget, schedule)
- Supporting general Core Engineering Design code, procedure and methods development and updates
- Leading training, development and qualification of other software engineers
- Developing software project proposals including: technical scope descriptions, schedules and cost estimates
- 4-Year Degree or equivalent in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines
- Software development
- Nuclear engineering/physics
- Experience in software projects that follow software engineering standards (requirements, design, implementation, testing)
- Working understanding of data modeling approaches
- Working understanding of software test approaches
- Understanding of end users' expectations of software
- Experience with modern programming languages such as C/C++, Fortran 95/2003, Java, Python, or C#/.NET
- Experience with source code version control systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Proficiency in English language, critical for reading and writing technical documents
- Effective communications skills, written and oral
- Ability to work effectively in an international team-oriented environment
- Possess a mindset for finding, analyzing and efficiently solving variety of software related problems
- Possess a mindset for working in a regulated business industry following defined processes and procedures
- Aptitude to work with little guidance and oversight
- Experience organizing and leading team of software engineers
- Highly organized and task focused
- Motivated to self-learn and develop
- Nuclear engineering knowledge and experience
