Shop Technician 1 in Electrical area executes assembly, disassembly, refurbishment, and wiring operations. The role is an Individual Contributor who performs multiple assignments in support of electro-mechanical assembly, repair, refurbishment of equipment, components, or tooling systems. The person may perform both electrical wiring or assembly and mechanical assembly; follows standard procedures and is closely supervised; and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation. The role works under general direction with close supervision in which specific instructions are provided on all new assignments. Initial assignments are in a "training status" and all work is to be checked for quality and accuracy. Independent decision-making ability increases as experience is gained. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance) • Ability to comprehend basic mechanical and/or electrical drawings, codes, schematics, manuals, blueprints and procedures, and record data in the required form. • Ability/knowledge of electrical equipment and/or painting methods, hand and power tool usage. • Apply knowledge of basic electro-mechanical theory and components to build subassemblies. • Disassemble, clean, reassemble, and wire low voltage and medium voltage breakers per engineering documents for refurbishments and new builds. • Install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings, using rivets, bolts, or connectors. • Ability to Operate electrical/electronic test equipment. • Plan, lay out, assemble or fabricate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic equipment. I. KNOWLEDGEa. Describe the knowledge or abilities required to perform the major responsibilities.
- Minimum Relevant Experience: 0-2 years relevant experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining or inspection skills. Specific knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawings, assembly, and wiring.
- Preferred: Nuclear Industry experience.
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and multitasking skills.
