If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Safety Analysis Engineer / Physics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering. This position is hybrid in nature requiring 2 days/week on-site at the Westinghouse Global Headquarters facility in Cranberry Woods, PA in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. No relocation will be provided for this position. We are able to entertain all candidates authorized to work without sponsorship now and in the future as we are unable to sponsor Visa's for this opportunity. Your Day-to-Day:As a Safety Analysis Engineer, your main responsibility will be to carry out calculations and conduct security analyses of our BWR reactors.
- Perform calculations and analyze the response in a nuclear reactor based on different cases and scenarios
- Conduct safety analysis based on recurring scenarios, as well as new legal requirements or incident reports
- Write and review reports based on your findings
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Physics, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear preferred) that provides a strong technical and theoretical foundation.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a recent graduate with a postgraduate degree, minimum 3.0 GPA and strong interest to develop.
- Have programming skills, preferably in Python and/or MATLAB
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environment
- You are thorough and structured. You approach tasks and enjoy solving theoretical problems.
- Due to the nature of the work and our business, it is very important that you have a high level of integrity and can follow instructions with accuracy.
- You are communicative and enjoy collaborating with other people
- A Masters of Science in Engineering is preferred.
