Principal Manufacturing Engineer, Columbia, SC Your Day-to-Day:1. This role supports multiple manufacturing lines which take internally prepared uranium dioxide powder, and perform powder prep, dry press, sinter, and grinding operations for nuclear fuel pellet fabrication.
2. Assume lead technical responsibility for development and administration of one or more major manufacturing programs, systems or activities. This includes the specifications of new process, design, development, installation and qualification of new equipment. This also includes supporting equipment design upgrades to current equipment to improve equipment utilization and optimization.
3. Take leadership role in coordinating efforts of interfacing departments in order to effectively implement project scope, schedule and meet capital spending targets.
4. Analyze and recommend utilization of technological innovations in material, machinery, manufacturing and chemical processing techniques to solve complex manufacturing problems.
5. Analyze and make proposals, renew business opportunities and plant or division strategic plans.
6. Represent Westinghouse on professional society or industry trade associations.
7. Prepare technical papers and make formal presentations to customers and others.
8. Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
What you need to be successful in this role:1. BS in an engineering discipline, Ceramic or Materials Engineering preferred2. Minimum of 5-10 years in a manufacturing environment3. Nuclear is desired but not required 4. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles preferred5.
