If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Plant Layout Engineer with a background in mechanical engineering, plant engineering, civil engineering or structural engineering. This position is hybrid in nature requiring 2 days/week on-site at one of the following Westinghouse locations:
- WEC Cranberry, PA facility in the Greater Pittsburgh Area
- WEC Rock Hill, SC facility located approximately 40 minutes South of Charlotte, NC
- Lead and support teams that support the design, fabrication, construction, and maintenance of large-scale nuclear and non-nuclear projects
- Provide technical coordination between different functional areas to ensure overall plant design meets design parameters, requirements, and reduce potential for physical layout conflicts between commodities
- Perform physical arrangement assessments of the nuclear island structures, equipment, piping, commodities, and supports using multi-dimensional (3D) design software
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and criteria documents
- Work with the Westinghouse proprietary digital design architecture (WNEXUS) to author, review and verify engineering designs and conduct in-depth reviews of 3D model and plant designs
- Help prepare technical reports to satisfy applicable regulatory, code, and/or contract requirements
- Provide engineering support and problem solving to design, fabrication, and construction organizations including responding requests for information (RFI's), identify design changes, and address deviations by interfacing with engineers in different departments and global work locations
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil/Structural/Architectural or Mechanical Engineer).
- 4-10 years of experience
- Experience in use of 3D modeling software to assess physical equipment arrangements and develop site layout plot plans
- Strong visual and spatial design skills
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and program management skills
- Highly motivated with a desire to learn and continually develop. High personal investment in your development, both in terms of technical knowledge as well as leadership
