[NDT/NDE Technician] APPLY ONLINE - Engineering NDE Specialist

About The Position


The Engineering Non-Destructive Exam (NDE) Specialist has overall responsibility for implementation of Ultrasonic and Radiographic examinations with respect to Flow Accelerated Corrosion, Raw Water Corrosion, ISI, and Welding Repair/Replacement programs.


Key responsibilities include:

- Maintain the Non-Destructive Exam program.

- Develop and revise procedures, schedules and surveillances required to maintain the NDE program compliant with applicable industry and code requirements.

- Develop and review specifications and review vendor/consultant proposals and activities to ensure they are in accordance with good inspection practices.

- Coordinate and direct vendor activities related to Inspections.

- Implement new NDE technologies with industry interface.

- Consult with other Callaway department personnel regarding equipment reliability issues and inspection of equipment.

- Consult with Regulatory Affairs personnel regarding licensing and regulatory issues.

- Consult with equipment manufacturers and other nuclear plants regarding problems with equipment, operations and design.


Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Requires Level III certifications in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) or possession of the qualifications necessary to be certified in UT to Level II per ASNT and ASME Section XI, appendix VII & VIII 2007 edition requirements. Certification in Radiographic Testing is preferred. Qualifications to Section XI Appendix 8 (Performance Demonstration Initiative) to review NDE results or to perform certain ISI inspections, detection and flaw sizing preferred. Experience with Phased Array ultrasonics is preferred.


In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Security screening required for Callaway Energy Center access.


Working Conditions

The Engineering NDE Specialist works a standard day shift in an office setting at the Callaway Energy Center. Additional hours and/or rotating shifts may be required during refueling outages and emergent plant activities as the needs arise
