Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Certified Industrial Hygienist/Safety Professional opportunity in Las Vegas, NV for the US Department of Energy’s Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).

Work Location: Work activities shall be conducted at either the DOE-EMNV facilities located in Las Vegas, NV and associated field facilities and sites located at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). The field office is located in Mercury, Nevada with specific field activities sites located up to 40 miles from this location. The preponderance of work will be conducted in the field with occasional support at the Las Vegas location for client meetings or other activities as directed.
Work Schedule: 40-hour work week, 4 days per week, Monday – Thursday

Scope of Work:
Seeking Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) who can also serve as a Safety Professional (SP) in a dual capacity. This position will directly support the Health and Safety Manager.

CIH/SP Qualifications:
Individual must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with Industrial Hygiene as well as Safety oversight support for D4 activities (Detection, Decommissioning, Decontamination and Demolition).
Licensed Asbestos Inspector in the State of Nevada
Beryllium Worker qualifications and experience related to Beryllium (Be) sampling, characterization and decontamination related to D4 activities.
Preference is given to the individual holding the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) qualifications in addition to the CIH
Personnel must be a U. S. Citizen and capable of being badged for access to the facility.

Description of Work:
Perform the following industrial hygiene and safety oversight services based on technical direction from the contract technical representative (CTR), ESH Manager or designee:
Provide Industrial Hygiene field oversight and support for D4 activities
Shall act as the subject matter expert (“Qualified Individual”) with experience and knowledge of the NNSS requirements and Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 850, “Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program”
Act as the SME on asbestos and asbestos abatement
Develop and/or review procedures, plans, hazard analyses and other safety documentation
Evaluate existing characterization data
Interpret analytical data in support of conducting safe field work activities
Identify and prioritize existing potential beryllium/asbestos and other hazards, perform surveys and assessments and recommend appropriate abatement actions
Provide comprehensive planning, building assessments and abatement oversight to include design sampling plans, locations and statistical approaches for asbestos, beryllium, lead and other hazardous materials which may be present in facilities and surrounding areas
Conduct sampling activities (e.g., beryllium, asbestos, lead, silica, and other hazardous materials) as required
Provide field inspections for characterization and final verifications that aforementioned materials have been removed prior to demolition of structures
Oversee asbestos, beryllium, and hazardous material abatement
Provide all field sampling equipment, unless otherwise provided, to support IH related work
Coordinate with the characterization team for submittal of samples to appropriate laboratories for asbestos, beryllium, lead and other materials requiring offsite analysis and interpret and report on analytical results
Act as the field safety representative, as required during absence of other company personnel
Support the ES&H Manager for IH and related safety matters
Additional Services:
Provide Industrial Hygiene and Safety field oversight and support for activities.
Complete trainings and qualifications, as required, for field oversight and support activities
Assists Company with the implementation of Corrective Actions
Furnish and maintain equipment types and consumables for Industrial Hygiene field oversight and support activities
