We are seeking a Research and Development Laboratory Support Technologist to join a diverse team that helps tackle some of the most challenging issues facing our nation�s security! Our team conducts maintenance and operations of the Z-Machine facility and carries the overall responsibility of delivering high-quality pulsed power to experiments in the center of the machine. You�ll be supporting the Z Pulsed Power Facility Energy Storage Section (ESS) and the Pulse Forming Section (PFS).
On any given day, you may be called on to:
� Clean and rebuild components for pulsed power systems.
� Troubleshoot existing components for faults.
� Develop new processes to improve efficiency and safety.
� Maintenance and repair of pulsed power systems within oil/water tank.
� Maintain and operate pulsed power component testers.
� Work within a beryllium-contaminated area.
� Use safe practices for all processes.
� Represent the ESS/PFS team during Z shot processes.
� Reach out across the division to support and build relationships.
� Assisting with Laser Trigger System (LTS) in ESS tank.
Qualifications We Require:
� High school diploma and 7 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical or mechanical systems
� Experience with mechanical tools (wrenches, pliers, torque wrench, calipers, screwdrivers)
� Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
