Requirements:
5-7 years of related experience in substation design.
Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering technology or an associate degree in a related field.
Approximately 25% travel required.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design of Southern Companys Transmission and Distribution Substations.
Provide engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for substation projects, ensuring a focus on safety, quality, scheduling, and cost control.
Make safety a top priority by adopting a safety-first mentality.
Deliver highly productive design packages with exceptional quality.
Offer technical expertise and guidance to less experienced design personnel.
Support Substation Field Services, Project Management, and other project stakeholders.
Coordinate and communicate with associated departments to ensure effective project execution.
Contribute to Southern Companys design criteria and standardization efforts.
Provide support for storm restoration efforts.
Skills and Expertise Required:
Basic discipline knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make independent decisions based on procedures, with review from the supervisor.
Proficiency with Control Design tools and applications such as AutoCAD Electrical, TEAMS, Stomps, SCST Vault, and Maximo.
Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors.
This position plays a key role in the design and execution of substation projects, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and scheduling standards while collaborating with various teams
