Opportunity Overview: Hardware Engineer - 12-18 Month Contract - Cranberry Twp & Warrendale, PA - Hybrid role No Sponsorship - US Citizen or Permanent Resident Required This position is responsible for the design, integration, and documentation of Plant Control Systems used in nuclear power plants. Design documents, assist with building, testing, and debugging system hardware acquisition equipment design to ensure customer requirements are met. Requires multidisciplinary research and collaboration with hardware and software engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Includes design of custom adapters/cabling and interfaces to transition existing plant equipment to new state of the art computer equipment. Cabinet layout and design incorporated with needed power distribution, control systems, network distribution, network equipment, data acquisition equipment and servers are the primary design components. The position also prepares documentation required by the customer to maintain the system after delivery. What your day to day looks like:
- Perform hardware design and review in system architecture, network layout, cabinet design, system cabling interface, custom panel and kit design, and cabinet power design
- Perform data acquisition designs including interface cabling and custom adapter designs
- Component selection to meet system needs and contract schedule deliverables
- Participate in the set-up, system modification and system integration and testing, and delivery of our non-safety I&C system upgrade projects
- Perform network switch configuration and documentation
- Perform proposal development and establishing costs and budgets for hardware design efforts for system components.
- Understand and implement the quality standards applicable to the nuclear industry.
- Willing to travel and work with local and international customers and vendor suppliers.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and/or mechanical engineer with at least 15 years of experience in hardware design, integration, and system testing.
- Experience with Cisco switches, Emerson Ovation DCS Hardware, data acquisition systems, and servers, workstations, Cisco switches.
- Data acquisition hardware and software:
- Knowledge of circuit designs to support custom cables and interfaces.
- Knowledge of Data Acquisition systems consisting of servers, workstations, controllers, 1/0 modules and electronic boards.
- Experience with Auto-CAD and 3D modeling.
- Develop drawings, and review and approve drawing packages.
