DUTIES (SPECIFIC FOR THE POSTING)
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support. Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations in accordance with national consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions.
Engineering services should be provided using processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided.
Required Qualifications: Education & Experience
Education: Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience. OR A MS with 8+ years' experience. OR A BS with 10+ years' experience or more.
Education (Specific for the Posting):
Graduate of an ABET accredited Fire Protection Engineering program. OR BS degree in an engineering discipline and at least one of the following:
� Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection.
� Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) NICET Level III/IV certification in the Fire Alarm, Detection and Signaling area of expertise
� Professional or Fellow Member in the SFPE
Experience/Skills:
Candidate must demonstrate ten (10) years recent design experience, four (4) of which shall be in the following area of expertise: Fire Alarm, Detection and Signaling Design - General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID�s, and battery loading calculations
Additional skills required:
� Working knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards, and National Consensus Codes and Standards such as NFPA 13, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, IBC, and various other ISA and IEEE standards
� Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD)
� Ability to operate Windows Microsoft Office Applications
Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.
