Fellow Engineer - STRUCTURAL ANALYST
US Citizenship Required - 1 position
SRNS @ SRS, Aiken, SC
RFQ# 1373 / contract: 1 year w 2 opt years / Deadline 5/5/2025


SUMMARY:
Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes, and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in the area of expertise in the external world.
Be aware of the capabilities of the work group and the needs of its customers. Identify technical programs that can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
Lead task teams to develop solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of the budget, and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, and quality assurance requirements.
Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers, and oversight groups.
Provide advanced analysis and design of all types of buildings and structures for normal and accident loading conditions. Advanced structural analytical capabilities include dynamic seismic analysis (response spectra and time-history), generation of in-structure seismic response spectra, tornado winds, and missile penetration and precipitation (rain, flood, snow).
Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Ph.D. w/ 10 yrs exp
OR
MS w/12 yrs exp
OR
BS w/15 yrs exp
Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
Can solve complex problems in field.
Candidate must demonstrate 8 years recent experience in design and analysis of NRC or DOE regulated nuclear facilities.
Experience with finite element analysis is required.
Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS or ABAQUS or similar computer codes.
Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards; specifically, IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ACI (318 & 349) and ASCE (4, 7 & 43)
Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions.
Current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering (Preferred )
Experience in analysis for structural response to explosion (blast/detonation and deflagration) (Preferred )
Experience with DOE natural phenomena hazard (NPH), Standard 1020, criteria (Preferred )
Previous SRS experience (Preferred )
