Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer
Pay rate: $150,000 - $190,000 a year
Location: Gainesville GA or Melrose Park IL
Relocation assistance can be provided
Duration: permanent long term role

The Fleet Support Principal Engineer Role will provide technical support and guidance to field service projects as issues arise. The right candidate will engage with field engineers and technical field advisors and client representatives to characterize risk and provide technical solutions to emergent field findings and issues. The role will also support all business units as technical resource and engaging with customers to drive success.

Role Responsibilities

� Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.
� Utilize a detailed understanding of steam turbine component design, auxiliary system
design and turbine operation to support field service inspection and operational issue
resolution.
� Investigate and resolve field and shop technical issues in a timely yet safe manner
supporting customer operational and reliability considerations.
� Interface with customers to effectively represent by demonstrating technical
expertise and customer sensitivity to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
� Provide engineering input to support development of outage and repair procedures.
Develop field service procedures that support the continual technical development of
the field services and repairs business units.
� Collect and document unit experience, operational feedback, and lessons learned
ensure continuous improvement.
� Own and lead RCAs from a technical & process perspective with cross-functional teams
to drive root cause analysis to achieve timely and robust issue resolution.
� Performs liaison functions with other engineering team members on the specification,
manufacturing, assembly, material quality, testing, repair, performance and operation of repair offerings.

Role Requirements

� Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
� Required minimum 10 years of experience supporting turbomachinery with a focus on
industrial and power generation stream turbines.
� Must have steam path technical issue resolution experience and working knowledge of
steam path design.
� Familiar with repair methods such as machining, welding, coating, assembly and disassembly for turbine equipment (blades, impellers, rotors, casings, assembled units)
across various OEMs.
� Basic knowledge of metallurgy, material selection, heat treatments.
� Basic knowledge of non-destructive inspection and testing techniques.
� Familiarity with relevant OEM, ISO, ASME, and API codes and regulations.
� Knowledge of standard drawing symbols and tolerances (GD&T).
� Basic CAD and FEA abilities / experience. Solidworks experience is a plus.
� Knowledge in the application of rotating equipment performance and reliability.
� Highly effective people skills with demonstrated ability to work on teams and with
diverse workgroups including craft-persons, vendors, and various engineering
disciplines.
� Effective / creative problem solver.
� Ability to work with minimal supervision.
� Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
� Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
� Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion.
� Ability to anticipate customer needs and ensure that they are met.
� Strong oral and written communication skills.
