Advisory Engineer (Project Engineer)
General Duties
� Initiate technical programs and recommend solutions based on customer needs and technology trends.
� Resolve complex technical problems in fields of expertise and influence solutions in related disciplines.
� Apply specialized or broad-based technical experience to solve challenging issues.
� Incorporate advanced technical practices, unique materials, or coordination requirements into program planning.
� Lead complex problem-solving efforts and serve as an expert in technical specialization areas.
� Recommend and assist with planning research programs within the department.
� Influence departmental technical direction and serve as a cross-disciplinary technical communicator.
� Develop plans for major technical tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and personnel planning.
� Report on progress and represent SRNS/SRS to oversight groups and professional societies.
� Mentor junior professionals in communication and technical skills.
� Support Total Quality (TQ) initiatives and provide leadership in their implementation.
Specific Duties for Posting
� Provide staff augmentation to SRNS by managing and integrating engineering activities for assigned projects.
� Assist in establishing design criteria, forecasts, schedules, and project priorities.
� Apply project management tools to current and future project development.
� Oversee project tasks and deliver results aligned with cost and schedule goals.
� Follow SRNS engineering processes and procedures under programmatic guidance.
Work Hours
� 40-hour work week, with possible schedules including 5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s.
� 30-minute lunch break daily.
� Overtime may be required at the Manager's discretion.
Required Qualifications
� BS Degree in Engineering or current Professional Engineer registration. Please Answer:
� Minimum of 12 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. Please Answer:
� At least 5 years of experience working in a nuclear facility. Please Answer:
� Ability to perform field walk-downs in active construction and controlled environments. Please Answer:
� Demonstrated skill in producing quality documents and effective communication. Please Answer:
� Ability to lead engineering efforts and mentor junior team members. Please Answer:
� Familiarity with EVMS tools, engineering scheduling, and procurement of engineered materials. Please Answer:
� Security Clearance: Q clearance required. Please Answer:
Preferred Qualifications
� Active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past 2 years preferred. Please Answer:
� Minimum of 5 years experience working at DOE facilities. Please Answer:
� Previous experience at SRS and knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures preferred. Please Answer:
