Thomas Thor is seeking a Controls Engineer to support prototype system design, implementation, and commissioning for advanced reactor testing. Work onsite with a dynamic engineering team and lead I&C Engineer to develop first-of-a-kind control systems in a high-temperature R&D environment.
🔧 Key Duties:
Program, commission & troubleshoot PLC/HMI systems
Translate PFDs/P&IDs into control system specs
Support system shakedown & I&C testing
Review procedures with operators to align HMI interfaces
Recommend scalable solutions for control systems
Ensure safety & apply nuclear industry best practices
✅ Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (advanced degree a plus)
3+ years in instrumentation, controls, or automation
Strong experience with SCADA, PLC, HMI, DAQ, or DCS (e.g., NI, Siemens)
I&C design for R&D/high-temp systems (>300°C)
Background in commissioning, calibration, and diagnostics
Qualified Electrical Worker cert a plus
