We are seeking qualified candidates to perform the following:
Summary:
The Instrumentation & Controls Engineering organization is responsible for design engineering of safety related and non-safety related digital instrumentation and control (I&C) systems. Additionally, oversees and coordinates workflows and schedules with designated subcontractors. Possesses excellent knowledge of functional disciplines and their practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. Responsible for making technical decisions regarding I&C system design and application to ensure compliance with NRC regulatory criteria.
Duties:
- Apply expert level engineering principles, techniques and practices in the preparation and/or review of I&C System design work products such as, one-line diagrams, logic diagrams, system and equipment requirement specifications, system design documents, engineering studies, engineering calculations, engineering reports, hazard analyses, Inspections, Tests, and Analysis Acceptance Criteria (ITAAC). - Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work. Supports preparation of work scope and schedule for assignments.
- Compile functional and design requirements into component and system design with consideration for system interfaces, manufacturability, serviceability and in-service inspection.
- Develops department R&D needs and contributes to methodology development.
- Interprets scope and project requirements and develops design alternatives. Plans, organizes, and performs complex assignments in a team environment.
- Provides mentoring and technical direction to less experienced engineers. Serves as a technical lead for the design of systems, structures, and components. Responsible for results and engineering oversight.
-Regularly interacts with directors and/or major clients. Create formal networks and may serve as an internal and/or external spokesperson for the organization regarding specialized projects or programs.
- Provides oversight and direction to key suppliers of I&C systems and components. Also, coordinates design interfaces with other disciplines and partners associated with the I&C systems.
- Acts as a primary interface to regulatory agencies concerning I&C design principles of assigned I&C systems including supporting audits, RAIs, and meetings.
Minimum Required Skills:
A minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering or a technically related discipline and 12 years of progressively responsible experience in electrical or I&C design, analysis, or engineering. Additional skills required and/or experience include a background in Commercial nuclear power or related industry in a design and/or systems engineering organization. Experience in the design, testing and installation of digital systems as well as development of testing and installation procedures for this type of equipment for commercial nuclear plants.
Industry Requirements:
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
Duration: Through 12/2025 with possible extension.
Location: Remote position with possible 5% travel to client location in Corvallis, OR.
