REMOTE Piping Designer position

Salary 75,000 year - direct-hire

Position Overview: A Piping Designer specializing in Plant 3D is responsible for creating and managing detailed 3D models of piping systems used in various industrial projects. This role involves using AutoCAD Plant 3D software to design, develop, and optimize piping layouts, ensuring they meet project
specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and draft complex 3D piping models using AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Hexagon Smart Plant 3D software.
• Create detailed piping drawings, including isometric, orthographic, and spool drawings.
• Collaborate with project engineers and other design disciplines to ensure integrated and
efficient designs.
• Conduct field surveys to gather data and verify existing conditions.
• Prepare material take-offs and bill of materials from 3D models.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
• Review and analyze P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and other technical
documents.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior designers and drafters.
• Perform quality checks on designs and drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare model extracts for internal engineering use, as well as for integration into the customer's preferred software package.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in piping design, with at least 2 years using SmartPlant 3D
• Strong understanding of piping design principles and industry standards (e.g., ASME B31.3).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with other 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor or Advanced Steel.
• Experience with pipe stress analysis tools.
• Knowledge of fabrication and installation processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
