HukariAscendent is a Woman-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities.

We are seeking qualified candidates to perform the following:

Hydrogeologic Site Characterization of the Tuba City, Arizona, Disposal Site
The Tuba City, Arizona, Disposal Site (Site) subsurface environment is complex which results in measured hydraulic conductivity values within the eolian Navajo Sandstone spanning 6 orders of magnitude at the site. Knowing controls on, and the spatial distribution of hydraulic conductivity is paramount to predicting future contaminant migration and designing an efficient remedial system. RSI is seeking an individual to assist in determining controls on and distribution of hydraulic conductivity at the Site.
Information and material available to perform the evaluation includes historical records and reports, lithologic descriptions (outcrop and borehole), rock core stored at the Grand Junction, Colorado, Disposal Site available for thin sections/microscopy, transducer records, hydraulic testing records, aqueous geochemistry, and borehole geophysical logs (primarily nuclear magnetic resonance).
Based on the information and material provided, tasks to be performed are:
- Evaluate depositional and diagenetic controls (including changes induced from former milling activities) on permeability (hydraulic conductivity) distribution.
- Characterize shear-enhanced compaction band compartmentalization fractions across the site as it relates to joint and fracture patterns (typically contaminant transport conduits) using existing core and observations from Tuba City rock outcrops;
- Analyze well integrity/hydraulic diffusivity using continuous water level and barometric time-series data;
- Perform geologic mapping and interpretation of rock outcrops at the Tuba City Processing Site;
- Ability to work as an integrated project team member in Grand Junction, Colorado within the evaluation timeframe specified below to meet project schedule; and
- Assist senior hydrogeologist to provide a summary report documenting evaluation methodologies and results.

Anticipated schedule requirements:
- Approximately 45 days' work with travel based at the Grand Junction, Colorado office with access and visits to the Grand Junction, Colorado, Disposal Site facility which houses the archived core samples.
- Approximately 2 days of work with travel to the Tuba City, Arizona, Disposal Site.
- Evaluations from September 2, 2025, to November 7, 2025.
- Draft Summary Report; due December 5, 2025; and
- Final Summary Report; due December 19, 2025.

Required Qualifications:
The individual proposed to perform the requested evaluations must have demonstrated expertise and completed projects related to groundwater hydrology, geophysics, time series analysis, formation and propagation of fractures and joints in geologic settings, and depositional and diagenetic controls on permeability. Given the quantitative nature of the work, the individual must also have demonstrated a rigorous academic background in mathematics, geophysics, groundwater hydrology, or related discipline(s).
