Position: Procurement Engineer
Pay rate: $70-$95 an hour based off experiance
Location: Tonopah AZ
per diem: $840 a week
Length: anticipated multi year contract

Overview:

The Senior Procurement Engineer will support the nuclear power utility's supply chain and engineering organizations by providing technical expertise in the procurement of Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) equipment, systems, and components. This position ensures that procured items meet nuclear safety, regulatory, and operational requirements, while also supporting cost-effective and reliable plant performance. The Senior Procurement Engineer serves as the technical authority for vendor qualification, equipment evaluations, and procurement engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and review procurement specifications and technical requirements for Electrical and I&C equipment, components, and systems.
Evaluate vendor submittals, drawings, and test reports to ensure compliance with NRC, IEEE, IEEE-323/344, ASME, and other applicable nuclear codes and standards.
Perform commercial grade dedication (CGD) and equivalency evaluations for Electrical/I&C components used in safety-related applications.
Support vendor audits, source inspections, and qualification activities to verify compliance with nuclear QA requirements (10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1).
Resolve technical issues related to material obsolescence, replacement parts, or reverse engineering of legacy equipment.
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure procurement aligns with plant schedules and operational priorities.
Provide oversight and technical support for testing, inspection, and acceptance of procured items.
Interface with regulatory bodies, INPO, and industry groups to ensure compliance and adoption of lessons learned.
Support root cause analyses, operability determinations, and corrective action plans related to procured equipment issues.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience, with at least 4 years in procurement engineering or supply chain support for a nuclear utility.
Strong background in Electrical and/or I&C systems (switchgear, relays, transformers, sensors, control systems, circuit breakers, etc.).
Knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, 10 CFR 21, and commercial grade dedication practices.
Familiarity with EPRI guidelines and industry procurement processes.
Experience with vendor audits, qualification, and corrective action programs.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with vendors, regulatory bodies, and cross-functional teams.
