Job Title: Senior Civil Engineer (Solid Waste)

Location: KY, USA

Short Summary about Job:
Under limited supervision, perform senior level design engineer duties within the Regulatory Decision Integration organization, On-site waste disposal facility (OSWDF) Project. The specific work assignments include Civil Engineering with a specialization in hazardous and solid waste disposal facility design duties and activities. The position will apply your engineering skills on projects involving site characterization; landfill facility design and construction including construction quality assurance; hazardous/solid waste planning, static and seismic slope stability evaluations; civil infrastructure design; applications of geosynthetics, and permitting and regulatory compliance, while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Required Qualifications
BS degree in Civil Engineering with a solid waste specialization and 10 years of experience in the design of waste disposal facilities, waste containment, waste handling, leachate, and stormwater or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Thorough understanding of pertinent codes and governing regulations and industry practices related to waste disposal
Eight years of experience in Title I, II, and III design including three years related to designing waste disposal and supporting infrastructure systems
Excellent writing and communication skills
Must possess at least a DOE "L" clearance or the ability to obtain a DOE "L" clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
Experience with modeling/design tools such as Civil3D or Microstation and Slope/W
Proficient in the application of engineering procedures, including but not limited to 30-60-90-CFC process, test plan development and execution, development of technical specifications, and the development of engineering drawings
Additional Information:
Works in an office environment at a normal environmental restoration atmosphere
Works in the field when necessary to gather information during design process, conduct constructability reviews, troubleshoot issues during construction
Work compliantly and safely in an environment with high schedule pressure demands
Key responsibilities include supporting subcontractor design, preparing engineering documents, assisting in RFP development, participating in design workshops, developing operating procedures, and integral role in construction quality assurance
