Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineering Duties
Support the development, review, and implementation of nuclear safety documentation for various facilities at the Savannah River Site. Provide technical assistance in developing and reviewing nuclear safety documents and analyses, technical safety requirements, and related technical support documentation.
Ensure that the developed nuclear safety documentation complies with requirements and as
necessary, applicable controls are implemented in field procedures.
Conduct Nuclear Safety Program assessments and maintain program manuals.
Education & Experience: Advance degree and experience. Ph.D. and about 10 years exp. MS degree and 12 years exp. BS degree and about 15 years exp.
Top Skills & Years of Experience:
- Previous experience with the use and implementation of 10 CFR 830, DOE O 413.3, DOE O 420.1, DOE STDs 3009, 1186, 1189 and related directives and standards is required. Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in developing and providing safety basis inputs to facility/project schedules, while meeting deadlines and budgets.
- Candidate must perform work safely and be proficient in performing Nuclear Safety Program assessments.
- Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
- Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external pubs. and prof. society presentations.
Nice to Have:
- Fifteen years of relevant experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining safety basis documents and safety basis support documents is preferred.
- Demonstrated previous SRS nuclear safety engineering experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership in preparing, planning, developing, and implementing safety basis and support documents is preferred.
