[NDT/NDE Technician] Nuclear NDE - Automated UT Level II

Automated UT Operator


Candidates will receive job specific training which will enable them to navigate the UT software program used for conducting and completing automated UT examinations. Candidates should have previous experience in an automated/robotic environment.


Knowledge and experience integrating and setting up complex computerized tooling systems, including network pan tilt zoom camera operations and functionality.


Operators are responsible for building and reviewing setups, calibration sheets, and essential variables and must have a working knowledge of how to set up their work location or tent, and how each connection works from the motion controller to the acquisition unit (such as Topaz, 2 Dynaray, etc.) and acquisition laptops.


Candidates must be proficient at performing Thickness and Contour (T&C) on components being examined. Operators work remotely from the actual component of the examination and ability to quickly adapt to and become familiar with the customer specific tool used to complete different examinations, is required. Operators need to understand "flow" and be able to read isometric drawings, vessel rollouts, shroud rollouts, or any maps relevant to the components being inspected.



Competent in mechanical and electrical problem-solving and ability troubleshoot causes of system failures and complete necessary repairs. Operational knowledge of both wireless and wired communications systems.


Must be competent in reading isometric drawings and navigating through the nuclear power plant to walk down components, as needed, using pictures, component labeling, and piping configurations.


Additional required job expectations include the following:


• Must be willing to travel, 3-12 weeks per outage season, as well as travel to Houston, TX, San Jose, CA or Wilmington, NC for training, and or testing.


• Candidate must be dependable and be able to report to work fit for duty, and on time while working 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week.


• Highly motivated to be successful and help the entire team when in high stress situations.


• Be a self-starter and capable of working in a cohesive team to ensure a successful outcome.


• Should maintain a questioning attitude and have a willingness to listen when given verbal directions/instructions.


• Willingness to learn and take the initiative in new situations and environments.
