Senior Process & Piping Design Engineer – Contract
Pay Rate: $67 – $110/hour
Location: Remote or Onsite
Client: System One | Project: Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR)

System One is seeking a Senior Process & Piping Design Engineer to support the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE), part of the MCFR program. This role will directly contribute to the development of next-generation nuclear reactor systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop System Design Descriptions, PFDs, P&IDs, and Interface Control Documents.

Design piping layouts, perform material selection, and conduct stress analyses using AutoPipe.

Prepare and review technical drawings, specs, and vendor documents.

Ensure compliance with ASME B31.1/B31.3, ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA, DOE, NRC standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including thermal, mechanical, and I&C.

Review supplier designs and support quality efforts through inspections and audits.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

12+ years of experience in industrial mechanical/piping systems.

Proficient in piping design and analysis (AutoPipe or Caesar).

Experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

Familiarity with piping materials, valves, supports, and fittings.

Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

Preferred:

Experience with high-temperature systems and nuclear process design.

Knowledge of design quality standards (ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001).
