Senior Engineer Licensing
This position is 100% REMOTE and will support License Renewal/Subsequent License Renewal for a Nuclear fleet. We are interested in Nuclear, Mechanical or Civil Engineers that have a strong background in nuclear reactor fuels and/or reactor pressure vessel design/analysis.
Prior experience with Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) suppliers, such as General Electric, Westinghouse, Framatome, etc., is preferred. This position will be responsible for producing many written documents so good writing skills are required.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
SERVES AS THE PRIMARY PLANT CONTACT OR EXPERT FOR ASSIGNED NSSS SYSTEMS.
PROVIDES TECHNICAL INTERPRETATIONS OF DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AS THEY APPLY TO THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF NSSS SYSTEMS.
PROVIDES ENGINEERING RECOMMENDATIONS AND ALTERNATIVES FOR SOLVING OPERATIONAL PROBLEMS INVOLVING SYSTEM AND COMPONENT PERFORMANCE.
DEVELOP SOLUTIONS AND ENGINEERING OPTIONS TO SUPPORT SAFE, RELIABLE, AND EFFICIENT SYSTEM OPERATION.
DEVELOPS AND PERFORMS TESTS TO DEMONSTRATE THAT DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE MET FOR MODIFIED SYSTEMS.
PERFORMS WORK THAT INVOLVES CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING PRACTICE BUT MAY INCLUDE A VARIETY OF COMPLEX FEATURES SUCH AS CONFLICTING DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULT COORDINATION REQUIREMENTS.
CONDUCTS WORK REQUIRING JUDGMENT IN THE INDEPENDENT EVALUATION, SELECTION, AND ADAPTATION OF STANDARD PROBLEM-SOLVING TECHNIQUES AND THE APPLICATION OF SYSTEM PROCEDURES AND CRITERIA.
DEVISES NEW APPROACHES TO PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED.
TECHNICALLY SUPERVISES, COORDINATES, AND REVIEWS THE WORK OF A SMALL STAFF OF SYSTEM ENGINEERS AND TECHNICIANS.
ESTIMATES PERSONNEL NEEDS AND SCHEDULES, AND ASSIGNS WORK TO MEET COMPLETION DATES.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Nuclear, Mechanical or Civil Engineering required.
10+ years of nuclear power plant experience involving nuclear plant design, construction, operation, licensing, safety, or quality assurance.
Previous licensing or license renewal experience is desired but not required.
Previous License Renewal/Subsequent License Renewal application development is desirable.
Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is desirable.
Senior Reactor Operator/STA certification of license is desirable.
Experience with time limited aging analyses is beneficial.
Work requires a broad knowledge of system precedents and performance as well as an extensive knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
Must have problem analysis and decision-making skills
Good organization and planning skills to effectively manage diverse tasks and projects.
Excellent communication skills to be able to express complex ideas succinctly and clearly using different perspectives, as needed.
Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
