Talascend is currently seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Theodore, Alabama.

Overview

The role involves supervising engineering staff on industrial projects, assembling and reviewing bid packages for civil/structural work scopes, and developing conceptual layouts and cost studies to solve engineering tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

Supervise engineering staff on industrial projects that range from small to large capital size projects.
Assemble and review bid packages for civil/structural work scopes.
Produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.
Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks.
Independently apply knowledge and continuously develop quality programs for the CSA department.
Establish related processes and promote a culture that is conducive to quality.
Provide guidance and direction to others and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Perform field work to gather relevant project data and provide construction support as required.
Check calculations made by other engineers to ensure code and specification conformance and good engineering practice.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Engineering with recognized accredited program (ABET) in Civil or Structural Engineering
Minimum 8 years relevant work experience
Preferred: Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
Requirements

Familiar with applicable engineering codes (IBC, AISC, ASCE, ACI, etc.)
Experience with civil/structural analysis software (Risa 3D & Risa Foundation preferred)
Must be proficient with CAD software and Microsoft Office
