We are seeking Construction Engineers to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico. The right candidate will be joining the Plutonium Infrastructure Engineering Division, supporting PIE-2 installation efforts at LANL's TA-55 facility as part of a mission-critical, high-consequence environment, directly enabling national security and nuclear modernization by supporting construction and engineering activities on some of the nation's most sensitive infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Serve in construction engineering facets across planning, design, field execution, and project closeout.
Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of tasks.
Perform construction assignments with note of adjustments and correlating data.
Ensure compliance with LANL's standards.
Plan and direct construction assignments on the project.
Supervise the construction activity on a project, or designated portions of a project, for a global business unit.
Demonstrate technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating these assignments.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience - Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction management discipline and 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance - To be considered, you MUST be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance.
Position typically requires a degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university; Specialized courses in relevant general engineering, architectural design or an appropriate engineering discipline, and progressive work experience, including supervision, preferably in project design engineering; may include other relevant types of engineering including startup, field engineering, or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
Working knowledge of engineering contracts and construction interfaces.
Familiarity with construction and engineering codes and standards (NEC, IBC, ASME, etc.).
Effective communicator; strong interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration.
Experience in technical documentation and submittal review.
Proficiency in MS Office, Teams, and willingness to learn LANL tools.
Must be outward focused (humble, hungry, and smart), skilled problem solvers.
Strong preference for those with a vast electrical background.
Desired Skills
Experience with NQA-1.
Experience with glovebox systems.
Experience with manufacturing facilities and facility-based mechanical systems.
Familiarity with DOE orders (e.g., DOE O 413.3B) and AutoCAD.
Previous experience in regulated environments (DOE, DoD, pharma, oil/gas).
