Electrical Engineer
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and analyze safety and non-safety electrical systems for a small modular reactor project. The role involves close collaboration with systems, mechanical, instrumentation & control, and nuclear engineering teams to provide electrical design and consultation. The engineer will apply industry best practices, regulatory guidance, and engineering judgment to ensure compliant and high-quality designs.
Responsibilities:
Develop system function and design requirement specifications
Create one-line and three-line diagrams
Plan and optimize cable and cable tray routing
Define component specifications (batteries, transformers, breakers, switchgear, relays, etc.)
Support vendor selection and interface for design confirmation
Provide electrical design support to other teams and oversee work performed by external organizations
Qualifications:
BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited)
0-5 years of experience in power generation electrical system design
Strong technical writing, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines
Eligible to work under DOE regulations
Preferred:
MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
10+ years of relevant power generation experience
Experience with plant power systems, AC/DC distribution, grounding, lighting, battery systems, diesel generators
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, ISA, ANSI, IAEA, etc.)
Nuclear power plant experience (auxiliary, reactor, or senior reactor operator)
