System One is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer on a 3 year contract position located in Waynesboro, GA.

Senior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
Mechanical engineering designs on small and medium retrofit, environmental and new generation projects
Leading in conducting mechanical design activities including pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, valve selection, P&ID development, equipment layout, equipment specifications, and hydraulic calculations
Develop datasheets for valves and other equipment
Provide technical direction to designers
Develop project scopes, schedules and budgets
Make sound independent decisions with minimal information
Assist in checkout and startup of systems when necessary.

Senior Mechanical Engineer Requirements:
Requires 20+ years of related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
A professional engineer license is desired.
Significant experience with design of new construction and/or retrofit of power generation or heavy industrial facilities
Ability to take the lead role for detailed design activities
Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles, proficiency with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements
Experience in development, preparation and checking of P&IDs
Experience with overall design and layout of piping systems, pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, equipment selection, preparation of inquiry packages/data sheets, and specification of tanks, pumps, and balance of plant equipment
Experience with hydraulic calculations.
Pipe-Flo (or similar software) experience is preferred
Significant working knowledge of processes equipment including piping, valves (manual/control/relief), pumps, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers
Experience with relief valve and control sizing
Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
