Mechanical Field Engineer

Location: New Mexico
Duration: 11+ months (long-term extensions likely)
Pay Rate: $75 to $90/hr (non-exempt; candidates above range will still be considered)
Per Diem: $178/day (7 days per week)
Schedule: 40+ hours per week
Travel: 1 trip per month - will compensate for trips not taken.

Overview:

• We are seeking 3 Mechanical Field Engineers to support ongoing design verification and drawing revision projects.

• Candidates must have prior nuclear and or power plant experience to be considered.

Position Summary:

The Field Engineer verifies design change paperwork against existing plant design drawings in support of the drawing revision project. The FE will participate in and conduct walk-downs of existing facilities, systems, structures, and components to aid in the closure of Plant Modifications and Engineering Change Requests.

Responsibilities:

• Verify design change paperwork against existing plant design drawings in support of the drawing revision project.

• Participate in and conduct walk-downs of existing facilities, systems, structures, and components to aid in the closure of Plant Modifications and Engineering Change Requests.

• Use manual drafting to produce applicable sketches and drawings under minimal supervision.

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to maintain and upgrade utility systems and facilities by providing quality design information to drafters.

• Interface with drafters and design engineers to establish and maintain technical baseline documentation on assigned facilities/systems.

• Complete historical drawing research and integrate appropriate and verified information into new baselines.

• Collaborate across multiple disciplines and actively engage stakeholders for feedback.

• Perform field work such as walk-downs and data gathering of existing utility systems, facilities, structures, and components.

• Support technical solutions to complex or unique problems that require creativity and independence.

• Facilitate and participate in design reviews, ensuring compatibility and coordination between drawings and models across disciplines.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or a related technical field.

• Must have nuclear and or power plant experience.

• Strong understanding of modeling, drawing, and drafting principles; ability to apply symbols and notes accurately to capture design intent.

• Ability to read, verify, and mark up multi-discipline drawings, including gas, water, electric, steam/condensate, and sanitary systems.

• Experience with engineering configuration management and technical baseline development.

• Must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

• Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulations and understanding of regulatory processes.

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to present information effectively.

• Must be able to determine technical objectives of assignments that may be completed without established procedures.

• Must be able to propose and implement changes for facility improvement.

Additional Information:

• Non-exempt hourly position

• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)

• Per diem and travel reimbursement provided per company policy
