Engineer, Safeguards & Non-Proliferation – Contract

Remote Opportunity | $52–$85/hour

System One is seeking a Safeguards & Non-Proliferation Engineer to support advanced reactor development work for the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) program. This role focuses on neutron transport, burnup/depletion analysis, and thermal-hydraulics modeling to support the development of Multiphysics tools for safeguards and material accounting applications.

This position reports to the Discipline Manager for Safeguards & Non-Proliferation and offers full remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop or utilize existing Multiphysics computational tools that integrate neutron transport, burnup/depletion, and fluid dynamics
• Build standardized, repeatable processes for predicting reactor performance parameters based on nuclear material inventory
• Assess real-world measurement practicality and uncertainty for key parameters to compare safeguards approaches

Qualifications & Skills
• BS or MS in Nuclear Engineering; PhD candidates also considered
• Experience with MCNP or similar neutron transport tools
• Experience with burnup/depletion analysis codes
• Experience with CFD tools (STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, NekRS, etc.)
• Familiarity with Python and GitHub-based collaboration
• Strong communication and technical writing abilities
• High integrity, teamwork focus, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
