Principal Construction Coordinator – RFQ 1488
Onsite | SRS – Aiken, SC
Closes: 12/23/25
Estimated Pay Rate: $102/hour with full benefits
(Medical, dental, vision; 401(k) with match; 80 hours PTO; 88 hours holiday)
Role Overview
The Principal Construction Coordinator represents construction management on complex projects and work authorizing documents (WADs), owning technical scope, cost, and schedule baselines. This role supports large, high-consequence construction efforts and ensures execution is safe, compliant, and efficient from planning through closeout.
This position serves as the key interface between facility management, project controls, design, procurement, and field execution.
Key Responsibilities
Represent construction management on complex projects and CMOs
Own technical, cost, and schedule baselines for assigned work
Administer and ensure compliance with direct hire and subcontract management programs
Develop and implement programmatic enhancements to satisfy DOE directives
Interface with facility management for scope definition, estimate approvals, and funding distribution
Coordinate scope development, estimating, planning, and execution activities
Review labor and material cost reports and identify budget variances
Validate constructability and alignment of scope, schedules, and estimates
Participate in establishment and approval of technical, schedule, and cost baselines
Identify risks to project baselines and implement corrective actions
Coordinate across project management, design, procurement, and field teams
Support safe, cost-effective execution through project closeout
Work Schedule
40-hour work week
May follow 5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s schedules
Overtime expected as needed to meet deliverables
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 11–13 years of construction experience
OR
Associate’s degree with 13–15 years of experience
OR
High school diploma with 15–18 years of experience
Experience & Skills
In-depth knowledge of construction costs and scheduling
Strong understanding of construction strategies and execution
Working knowledge of project management and tactical planning
Experience with operations, maintenance, startup, or construction management
Experience managing construction subcontracts
Other Required Qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
Active clearance not required to start; timing determined post-award
Preferred Qualifications
DOE L or Q clearance within the past two years
Experience supporting large DOE or NNSA construction projects
Familiarity with ASME codes and B31.3 pressure boundary systems
Strong constructability review experience
Experience with glovebox fabrication and assembly
Knowledge of project startup, system turnover, and operational readiness
Strong cross-functional coordination and issue resolution skills
