Thomas Thor is seeking candidates for (2) 12-month on-site contract Technical Instructor opportunities supporting Diablo Canyon - San Luis Obispo, CA.
Note: This work location has an alternating 4/10 (AWS) Alternate Work Schedule.
Required Qualifications:
POSITION 1- 5+ years of maintenance department experience or training experience from a nuclear facility.
POSITION 2- 5+ years of technical (Chem, RP or Eng) department experience or training experience from a nuclear facility.

Description:
The primary responsibility of the instructor is to properly implement and document the SAT process which includes the following tasks:
- Analyze subject material for new and revised training.
- Use the design process to determine performance measures, establish training settings, sequence training objectives, and identify test items from the objectives.
- Develop lessons for classroom and laboratory settings, performance evaluations, and test questions.
- Implement developed training by being prepared to present the material and ensuring the instructional facilities and resources are adequate and ready to provide a quality learning experience.
- Evaluate training process by the collection of data, including test results, feedback, and the performance of post training evaluations.
Instructors are responsible for promoting industrial safety by:
Modeling and reinforcing management expectations and engaging students in classrooms and labs to improve the safety culture.
Applying human performance tools and providing coaching to reinforce safety behaviors utilizing the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant (DCPP) Site Standards Handbook.
Including ALARA topics that cover minimizing exposure and contaminations in classroom and lab material and discussions.
Instructors are expected to contribute to organizational effectiveness by:
Encouraging and facilitating employee involvement in the training process.
Ensuring that classroom and laboratory housekeeping models management expectations.
Modeling and reinforcing management expectations for the use of human performance tools and techniques to include coaching and acknowledging students when appropriate.
Obtaining and maintaining instructor qualifications, certifications, and technical proficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
Position 1- 5+ years of maintenance department experience or training experience from a nuclear facility.
Position 2- 5+ years of technical (Chem, RP or Eng) department experience or training experience from a nuclear facility.
Desired Qualifications:
Instructor experience in adult learning environment with demonstrated experience in instructional development
Basic familiarity with SAP software
Strong presentation skills
Formal craft apprenticeship
Basic Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
