Job Title: ESH/Occupational Safety Subject Matter Expert

Duration: Multi-year opportunity (start required before 3/31/2026)

Location: El Segundo, California (Onsite)

Short Summary about Job:

Hukari is seeking an experienced Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) / Occupational Safety Subject Matter Expert to support the development and implementation of comprehensive ESH programs and procedures for nuclear facility projects. This role will be instrumental in establishing and maintaining robust safety programs including Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO), Emergency Action Plans (EAP), and other critical ESH protocols to support nuclear R&D and enrichment facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive ESH programs and procedures
Create and document Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) programs compliant with OSHA standards
Establish Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and emergency response protocols
Provide subject matter expertise on 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA Construction Safety Standards)
Support ESH program development for nuclear facility design and operations
Conduct safety assessments, audits, and compliance reviews
Develop safety training materials and procedures
Interface with design and engineering teams to integrate safety requirements
Ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, DOE, and state requirements
Mentor and collaborate with in-house safety staff


Required Qualifications

Expert-level knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA Construction Safety Standards)
Proven experience developing and implementing occupational safety programs
Strong expertise in Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) program development and implementation
Demonstrated experience creating Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and safety procedures
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in occupational/worker safety roles
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and experience with DOE 10 CFR 851 (Worker Safety and Health Program)
Experience in nuclear, DOE, or highly regulated industrial environments
Professional certifications: CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technologist), or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist)
Experience with nuclear facility safety programs
Familiarity with NRC and/or DOE regulatory frameworks
Understanding of Washington State and California safety regulations
