Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer 4
Duration: Contract expected to last through the end of 2026
Location: Remote (100% Remote within the United States with possible occasional travel to Oregon office, less than 5% travel)
Short Summary about Job:
This is a 40 hour/week W2 contract position with full benefits for an experienced I&C Engineer 4 to join the Instrumentation & Controls Engineering organization. The role is responsible for design engineering of safety-related and non-safety-related digital instrumentation and control systems for commercial nuclear power applications. The position requires expert-level engineering knowledge, strong technical leadership, and the ability to interface with regulatory agencies. Experience in commercial nuclear power or related industries in a design and/or systems engineering organization is required, with specific expertise in the design, testing, and installation of digital systems for commercial nuclear plants.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering or a technically related discipline
Minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible experience in electrical or I&C design, analysis, or engineering
Commercial nuclear power or related industry experience in a design and/or systems engineering organization
Experience in the design, testing and installation of digital systems as well as development of testing and installation procedures for this type of equipment for commercial nuclear plants, or other relevant facilities (e.g., oil, gas, chemical)
Expert level knowledge of I&C system design principles, techniques, and practices including preparation and review of one-line diagrams, logic diagrams, system and equipment requirement specifications, system design documents, engineering studies, calculations, reports, and hazard analyses
Strong understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to interact with directors, major clients, regulatory agencies, and key suppliers
Proven ability to provide technical mentoring and leadership to less experienced engineers
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with regulatory audits, Requests for Additional Information (RAIs), and regulatory meetings
Experience serving as a technical lead for the design of systems, structures, and components
Experience with R&D needs development and methodology development
Experience coordinating design interfaces with other disciplines and managing supplier relationships
