Principal I&C Design Engineer

Onsite – Savannah River Site (SRS), Aiken, SC
3 Positions Available
Estimated Pay Rate: $88/hr with full benefits package (medical, dental, vision; 80 hrs PTO; 88 hrs paid holidays; 401(k))

Position Overview
Provide senior-level Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) design engineering support to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). This role involves solving complex technical problems, developing high-quality engineering designs, and providing technical leadership within assigned programs. Engineering services shall be performed using SRNS processes and procedures, with programmatic guidance provided by SRNS.

Key Responsibilities
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.

Define scope of complex technical programs and develop effective, compliant engineering solutions.

Perform engineering analysis, field walkdowns, and design development.

Generate and review design output documents including:

P&IDs

Control logics

Loop diagrams

Instrument indices

Setpoint lists

Instrument and control valve specifications

DCS and PLC designs

Instrument location and installation designs

Panel layouts

Vendor document reviews

Apply advanced technical practices to resolve complex or unique engineering challenges.

Provide technical leadership and guidance to less senior engineers.

Evaluate program results and prepare reports and recommendations.

Develop schedules, monitor progress, manage budgets, and review quality of engineering work.

Identify and recommend improvements where existing technology or methodologies are inadequate.

Communicate technical objectives and results verbally and in written form to customers, colleagues, and management.

Maintain awareness of advancements in applicable technologies.

Support new approaches to engineering problems and new applications of existing principles.

Perform weekly field walkdowns, including work in active construction environments.
