Job Summary:
In this role, you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards. Essential duties performed may include pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code. The stress work involves the modeling of the piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.
Responsibilities:
Leads or administers work of designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings.
Develops designs for complete and complex engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed.
Assists in constructing detailed scale models.
Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to provide quality design reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.
Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Participates in constructability reviews
Plans, develops, coordinates, and reviews design work within a small-size PDP design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit.
Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing.
Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of PD&P engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters.
Prepares or oversees the preparation of PD&P design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
Education / Experience:
Requires bachelor's degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
Prior experience using pipe stress analysis programs including ME101 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE
