HukariAscendent is a Women-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and other Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities. We are seeking a Piping Engineer for our DOE client.


Job Title: Piping Engineer (Levels 3-5)
Duration: 1 year with possible extensions
Location: Oak Ridge, TN (HYBRID!!!)


Short Summary about Job:
We are seeking experienced Piping Engineers (Levels 3-5) to provide professional engineering support services for nuclear facilities. This position will support various infrastructure and technical projects requiring expertise in piping design, analysis, and systems engineering within a nuclear regulated environment. The successful candidate will develop design output documentation, perform pipe stress analysis, and work collaboratively with multiple engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide design output documentation to support minor facility modifications. The types of design output documents typically developed by a piping design engineer include drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, calculations, etc.
• Perform pipe stress analysis to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. Experience with AutoPipe is a plus but not required.
• Develop designs in accordance with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1 codes and standards.
• Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines and plant organizations to produce timely design output.
• Perform field walk-downs and work in a production environment as needed.
• Interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees.


Required Qualifications
Level 3 - Senior Principal Engineer: $61.14/hr + full benefits (see attachment)
• BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline plus 10-14 years of direct experience, OR MA/MS degree with 10-13 years of experience
Level 4 - Associate Fellow Engineer: $75..70/hr+ full benefits (see attachment)
• BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline plus 15-20 years of direct experience, OR MA/MS degree with 14-18 years of experience
Level 5 - Fellow Engineer: $87.33/hr+ full benefits (see attachment)
• BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline plus 20+ years of direct experience, OR MA/MS degree with 19+ years of experience


All Levels:
• Proven ability to perform pipe stress analysis
• Familiarity with and experience developing designs in accordance with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1
• Understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees
• Willingness to perform field walk-downs and work in a production environment


Preferred Qualifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience in a NRC or DOE regulated environment
• Experience with AutoPipe software
• Proficiency with piping design software (AutoCAD, Caesar II, etc.)
• Active Q or L clearance (or ability to obtain)
