Senior Design Specialist A (2D and 3D-S3D Electrical Designer)
RFQ 1511
Location: Onsite, SRS – Aiken, SC
Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week
Estimated Pay Rate: $72/hour with a full benefits package
Position Overview
This position provides advanced electrical design support within a nuclear facility environment. The Senior Design Specialist A develops complex 2D and 3D electrical designs, performs engineering analysis, and generates detailed design output documents supporting construction and facility modifications. The role requires extensive experience using MicroStation and Hexagon’s S3D software and strong working knowledge of national electrical codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop complex electrical designs and technical documentation.
Prepare 2D drawings using MicroStation and 3D models using Hexagon S3D.
Perform engineering analysis and support design development activities.
Prepare, review, and approve Design Change Forms.
Disposition Nonconformance Reports and resolve construction-related design issues.
Review vendor documents and incorporate into 2D drawings and 3D models.
Prepare procurement specifications and perform bid analysis.
Conduct field walkdowns and inspections as required.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and engineering criteria.
Provide engineering support to construction activities.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s degree in a technical discipline with 10 – 12 years of relevant experience, or 12 – 16 years of practical work experience.
Experience & Skills:
Minimum 10 years of experience as an Electrical Designer.
Experience with Equipment Layout, Grounding, Raceway Layout, Lighting Systems, Schematics, Connection and Wiring Diagrams.
Significant experience with 2D MicroStation and Hexagon S3D software.
Working knowledge of IEC, NEC, NFPA, NEMA, IEEE, and OSHA standards.
Ability to produce high-quality documentation with strong attention to detail.
Ability to perform field walkdowns including walking long distances and climbing ladders.
Ability to obtain and maintain DOE “Q” clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous DOE facility design engineering experience.
Active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years.
Formal CAD or 3D modeling training.
