Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Payroll & Benefits Accounting Specialist (Hybrid) opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

Work Location: Aiken, SC (telework 2-days per week)

Payroll & Benefits Accounting Specialist (Hybrid)-

Duties:

Payroll and Benefits Accounting personnel prepare, document, and disburse payroll checks, payroll taxes and benefit payments.
Ensure proper setup of employee deductions, garnishments, and union dues.
Support fiscal and calendar year-end closing processes.
Analyze the payroll and benefit information and balance accounts to ensure accurate year-end reporting of W2s and 1099s.
Evaluate current systems and recommend and develop operating efficiency improvements.
Monitor and ensure proper documentation of employee benefit payments.
May prepare reports illustrating payroll expenditures, including such items as tax payments and benefit plan disbursements.
Manage insurance policy applications and payments and work closely with the IRS and Department of Revenue to ensure the company is properly registered to pay taxes in a timely manner.
Perform analysis to forecast and budget benefit and payroll expenses.
Work with the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration for reporting on payroll and benefits contract deliverables.
Support internal and external audit requests.
Ensure the payroll and benefits accounts are monitored and reconciled on a monthly/quarterly basis.
Support annual benefits open enrollment.
Identify, analyze the cause, and implement controls to minimize and prevent wage and improper overpayments.
Work with employees to administer employee benefit eligibility.
Provide information to active and inactive employees related to benefits plans and different participant options
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Yrs. of Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field. Equivalents to experience and education requirements will be considered.

Skills/Experience:

Three (3) years of experience with working knowledge and experience in Payroll and Benefits Accounting.
Five (5) years’ experience with other Payroll Processing System.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Five (5) years’ experience with PeopleSoft HRMS.
