Principal Mechanical Engineer
Work Location: Round Rock, TX
Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate's requested rate
Per diem: $178.00/day (7 days per week)
Mob / Demob: $500.00/each way
Hours: Full Time (40 hrs / wk)
The required qualifications are as follows:
Position Details: Design, development, and maintenance of nuclear-qualified mechanical components and systems.
Overview:
A successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and subject matter expertise to mechanical engineering teams, facilitate cross functional collaborations, and ensure efficient execution of projects while confirming that designs are cost effective, reliable, and meet specifications and quality regulations.
Role Purpose:
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our nuclear qualified mechanical components/designs, and for identifying and implementing new technologies and design approaches that will help us stay ahead of the competition.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems, including creating prototypes and conducting testing to ensure reliability and safety
• Perform calculations for and apply ASME Code to design and analysis of qualified nuclear sensors/instrumentation.
• Having knowledge/understanding of Nuclear commercial grade dedication (CDG) principles and application methods
• Familiarity with Nuclear quality regulations such as 10CFR50, Appendix B, NQA-1, and 10CFR, Part 21.
• Dependent on project scope, lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working with the clients.
• Develop design deliverables of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations and customer specific standards, such as Design Proposal Drawings, detailed design documents, manufacturing BOMs and procedures. Checking and Approval of scoping and FEA calculations.
• Prepare technical presentations and written communications for customers and management.
• Work in partnership with Sales to write commercial proposals and prepare cost estimates.
• Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts.
• Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions logic at bid tender stages.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to other engineers and team members.
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies, tools, and techniques related to mechanical engineering and actively incorporate them into the design and development process
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
• Minimum 8 years applicable experience in mechanical engineering
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Understand and interpret design documents including drawings and calculation summaries.
• Strong leadership skills, with experience leading a team of engineers and managing projects from conception to completion
• Excellent technical skills, with a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Essential Functions:
The role may involve travel to customer or other sites within the US.
Physical Requirements: Must be capable of climbing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting as part of daily job responsibilities. Ability to lift a minimum of 35 - 60 lbs.
