System One is hiring Senior Nuclear Mechanical / Structural Analysis Engineers (Reactor Internals) for contract roles in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.

Position: Senior Nuclear Mechanical / Structural Engineer (Reactor Analysis)
Location: Cranberry Township, PA
Positions: 3
Start Date: May 2026
Duration: 6 months to 2 years
Work Model: Hybrid onsite (local candidates preferred)

Work Schedule:
First 2 weeks – 4 days onsite
Next 6 weeks – 3 days onsite
After that – 2 days onsite (typical schedule, may vary based on project needs)

Position Summary
The Senior Nuclear Mechanical/Structural Analysis Engineer will perform advanced structural, thermal, and seismic analyses supporting nuclear reactor components, particularly Reactor Vessel Internals (RVI). This role includes design support, qualification, configuration management, and lifecycle evaluation of safety-related nuclear components.

Key Responsibilities
Perform linear and nonlinear finite element analysis using ANSYS Mechanical including contact modeling, plasticity, creep, buckling, and fracture evaluation
Conduct seismic analysis (response spectrum and time-history) and flow-induced vibration assessments
Evaluate stresses, deflections, and fatigue per ASME Section III Subsections NB and NG
Prepare analysis reports documenting methodology, assumptions, calculations, and results
Support design and qualification of reactor vessel internals including core support structures and baffle-former assemblies
Review engineering drawings for dimensional accuracy and GD&T compliance
Support configuration management and design change documentation
Apply ASME Section III rules, NRC guidance, and industry codes to engineering work
Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and field service teams to resolve technical issues

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
Minimum 7 years of nuclear mechanical or structural analysis experience
Proficiency with ANSYS Mechanical including nonlinear FEA
Strong knowledge of ASME Section III design rules
Experience with reactor vessel internals or other Class 1 nuclear components
Experience reviewing drawings and GD&T requirements
Strong technical report writing skills suitable for regulatory review

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with flow-induced vibration or thermal hydraulic coupling
Experience with aging management or fatigue evaluations of reactor internals
Familiarity with EPRI materials databases
Previous experience with Westinghouse, Framatome, GEH, or a nuclear utility engineering group
Professional Engineer license or eligibility
Ability to meet nuclear access requirements
