Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Development Technician (Lithium Processing Group) opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN at the Y-12 National Security Complex.
Position Overview:
The Technician will provide operational support to the Lithium Processing Group, with responsibilities aligned to the individual’s skills and experience.
Perform hands-on cleaning of lithium components within an inert glovebox environment using hand-held power sanding tools to remove surface oxides, markings, and contaminants.
Conduct rough sanding, debris removal, and wiping of parts in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
Collect, record, and maintain process data in logbooks and/or Excel spreadsheets as required.
Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and housekeeping in all work areas.
Assist with operation of the wet chemical purification system, including dissolution of materials in water, solution transfers, and operation of associated pumps and equipment.
Read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures and process schedules.
Handle materials and components by moving containers, bagging and debagging parts, and staging parts for sampling.
Operate and train on specialized equipment used within a glovebox environment.
Support documentation activities, including creation and modification of procedures, as well as other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with 1 to 20 years of relevant experience.
Experience operating equipment in gloveboxes, hazardous and radioactive materials is preferred.
Familiarity with principles of chemical laboratory safety and operation are also preferred.
Must be willing to work with beryllium and radiological hazards.
Other Job Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance
Medical requirements may apply.
Work Schedule:
Technician will work a standard 40 hour work week and may need to work overtime to meet production schedules.
