Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Structural Engineer opportunity in Johnson City, TN.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for leading structural design, analysis, and project execution across a variety of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative structural solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead structural engineering design and analysis for new construction, renovation, and rehabilitation projects.
Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Serve as the Engineer of Record when applicable.
Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, mechanical/electrical teams, contractors, and project managers.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
Perform structural assessments, inspections, and field investigations as needed.
Review shop drawings, RFIs, and construction submittals.
Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and proposal development.
Participate in client meetings and contribute to maintaining strong client relationships.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis.
10+ years of structural engineering experience.
Experience with structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and/or timber systems.
Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, and other applicable structural codes.
Proficiency in structural design and analysis software (e.g., RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD, or similar).
Experience producing and reviewing construction documents.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
Experience serving as Engineer of Record.
Experience managing or leading engineering teams.
Experience with BIM coordination and tools such as Revit.
